MİMARLIK AGENDA
• Reflections of the Principle of “Architecture in the Service of Society” in the 50th Term Work Program of the TMMOB Chamber of Architects / Zeynep Eres Özdoğan
The 50th General Assembly of the UCTEA Chamber of Architects of Turkey was held on April 10–11, 2026. The central executive board was formed by Zeynep Eres Özdoğan as president, Orhan Ersan as vice president, Tores Dinçöz as secretary general, Ünsal Keser as general treasurer, and Mustafa Özçelik, İlke Çalışkan, and Murtaza Er as members. Zeynep Eres Özdoğan reflects on the next term’s agenda.
In the UCTEA Chamber of Architects of Turkey’s 50th Term work program, by evaluating our Chamber’s perspective on the profession and the country’s challenges within a historical framework, it is planned to prioritize work along two main axes under today’s conditions: both the principle of “service to society” and the approach of “standing by the profession and the architect”. In recent years, the severe damage sustained by all settlement areas - from cities to villages - and the natural environment in the face of disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and floods has highlighted the complex challenges surrounding how architecture should position itself in the face of such disasters. In this context, the work program plans to conduct studies across all relevant fields - from education to legislation, and from professional practice to building inspection - by examining the causes and consequences of both natural and human - induced disasters.
