Landform Ueda: A Landscape Concept Where Topography Transforms into Spatial Narrative / Şeyma Seyrek

This text explores the historical and theoretical lineage of earth - shaping as a deliberate design tradition, spanning from ancient tumuli to contemporary landscape practices. Within this framework, the author examines Charles Jencks’ renowned project, Landform Ueda (2002) in Edinburgh, as a pivotal contemporary manifestation. Through an analysis of Jencks' cosmological "wave and fold" approach, the author discusses how topography transcends a static backdrop to become a narrative space experienced through bodily movement, ultimately blurring the boundaries between architecture, sculpture, and nature.
